The Los Alamitos High girls volleyball team reached the semifinals of the Tae Kim Molten Tournament at Lakewood High, before falling to the host Lancers in three sets. Lakewood advanced to the title match with a 27-25, 25-21, 25-21 win over the Griffins.
Los Alamitos led the first set early as their game plan seemed to be working against the Lancers. The Griffins led 20-13 before the set began to slip away. Lakewood went on an 8-2 run to cut the lead to 22-21. The Griffins would led 24-23 before the Lancers tied the set and eventually closed it out.
“Somebody got hot over there and turned it pretty quickly,” Huber said, “but still good volleyball on our side of the net and way more good than bad.”
The hot hand for Lakewood was outside hitter Julia Crawford, who three kills and a block for a point that swing the momentum.default
